As a white Irish-American watching in horror as other Irish-Americans try to justify bigotry because “we were discriminated against too,” let me just say without reservation: that’s bullshit.
If your response to your heritage being mistreated/enslaved is that you should be allowed to perpetuate that mistreatment on someone else, you’re just an abusive fuck who’s misusing your heritage as an excuse for bigotry. Fuck off.

No, not really. Irish-americans are typically white and enjoy white privilege, as am I. I cannot make nor do I wish to make a comment on black activism in any way, because I have no frame of reference for their actions. Please do not apply my words to their situation, it’s not something I am comfortable doing.
